'Men's Vogue' is a male version of the highly popular women's magazine 'Vogue', it comes out monthly and is also very popular. The masthead has the original iconic VOGUE, however in a different colour it has 'MEN'S' on top of it, this may be because it has to show it differs from the normal female oriented Vogue. If the 'MEN'S' was behind the 'Vogue' it would not be as visible so it would be not as eye catching to men. The colours in the masthead are very different, the 'vogue' being black and the 'men's' being a yellowy/gold colour which contrast against each other. The rest of the cover lines have the the same colour scheme as the masthead and the main image, Will Smith is also even wearing a black coat, this could have been planned to match the masthead.
The dateline is directly underneath the masthead, as the magazine comes out monthly the date does only say the month and the year, not the day. The font is small and a plain black colour, it does not attract much attention to the date. The price is with the barcode at the bottom left, this again, is very small and not very noticeable, this could have been made intentional by the editors of the magazine so that the person buying the magazine would not realise the price until he came to actually pay for it. By putting the barcode in the bottom left, it does not take away attention from the main image or masthead or coverlines, for example, if the barcode was on Will Smith's face, it probably wouldn't sell as well as a lot of men may buy the magazine as they are a fan of Will Smith. It is a good subtle place but it can still be visible.
The main image is the popular actor Will Smith, if a reader didn't already know who he is, it would soon become obvious as there is a massive headline underneath with the title Will Smith. He is looking straight down the camera to get eye contact with the reader, this could entice the reader in. The image is right in the middle of the magazine cover, this is good as it does not interfere with any of the coverlines or the barcode, however, it does overlap with the masthead, this shows that the magazine is very popular as even with some of the masthead covered, almost everyone would know what the magazine is still. He is dressed very formally and this could give show that he has class, this could be a reason as to why the readers would buy this magazine, to get a sense of class and fashion from it.
The main coverline is a (can't think of the word) about the article about Will Smith, it is very big and is very eye catching. The actors name is white so it contrasts against the background which draws attention. His name is very big compared to the (and again) underneath, it gives a sense of empowerment as it says 'SAVING THE WORLD - AGAIN' which implies he is a very well known person and
